YouTube Tutorial - The Blooz

Hey guys

I've had loads of requests over the past few years since I've been on youtube, to do a tutorial using blue eyeshadow. I've done one or two using navy but never anything much like this look.

Here are some tips when attempting to pull of blue eyeshadow:
- Find the right shade that suits you. If you're confident with wearing colour then you could probably wear any blue and look great, but for those who aren't so confident with bright, bold colours wear the paler shades. Pale blue is a beautiful shade of blue for any skintone. For those who like dark eyes, use the navy blues.
- Always pair with an earth-toned eyeshadow. Taupes, greys and blacks are perfect with blue. I did use navy blue in this look to add a little bit of depth to the outer-v. Never match a light blue with a conflicting shade of blue though.
- Keep your cheeks and lips nude and natural as you possibly can. This applies to most vibrant eye make up - if you want to keep the attention to the eyes don't pair them with a bright, bold lipstick. It WILL look silly.

So with those tips in hand, here's a look for you to try:

YouTube Tutorial: Soft, smokey evening eye

Heya guys!

Another tutorial using Urban Decay eyeshadows! (I'm really into them recently! - specially the naked palette which I'm definitely taking on holiday with me :) )

Anyway - this is a look using my all time favourite UD Eye shadows - YDK. I remember that this was the first single eyeshadow I bought from a really high end brand and I remember saving my money to go and buy it!! haha... that was like 3 years ago and it's still lasting me! I do honestly absolutely love this colour - it's so great for a look like this - one that you can wear during the day/evening, and this colour goes with absolutely any other colour - so if in doubt, always where UD YDK if you can't create a look to match your clothes hehe

Anyway, a list of all the products:
EYES:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- MAC Paint Pot Groundwork
- Urban Decay Eyeshadow - YDK and Naked (from the first Naked Palette)
- MAC Eyeshadow - Handwritten, Contrast, Girlie
- Kajal (but any black eyeliner will be fine to use)
- MAC Fluidline - Blacktrack

FACE:
- MAC Studio Fix Foundation SPF15
- MAC Blush - Darkly My Dear
- MAC Cream Colour Base - Hush

LIPS:
- MAC Lipliner - Burgundy
- Bobbi Brown Treatment Lip Shine SPF 15 - Sunset Bronze #8

Look of the Month: February is Sweet Joy/Venomous Villains Tutorial

Heya guys!

I can't believe February is over already! Even with one day extra is felt so short :(

On the plus side, though, we're moving into spring now and spring/summer are my favourite seasons for fashion and makeup coz it means you have so much fun with colour!! And there's a tutorial coming up soon where I use lots of that fabulous colour stuff ;)

For now here is the next instalment of the Look of the Month series - February is Sweet Joy!!

I know this look and last month's look are quite bland, non-colourful and boring but bear in mind that this is the make up that I wear to work and uni everyday so I like to keep things simple and sweet. This look is slightly different however, since you can wear it with any colour lipstick and cheek and you can even change the way you wear your eyeliner and it'll look like a different look everytime ;)

I'm not wearing anything on my face apart from my moisturiser because I don't like wearing foundation to work - I work near ovens and it gets very hot so my foundation just ends up feeling slippery on my skin. You could wear tinted moisturiser though, if you still wanted a little bit of coverage!

EYES:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- MAC Bare Study PaintPot
- MAC eye-shadow: Sweet Joy (this was a limited edition shadow so you could use ricepaper if you wanted to - they're exactly the same and ricepaper is part of MAC's permanent line) and Wedge
- MAC Fluidline - Blacktrack
- Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner - Zero (any black eyeliner will work)
- Maybelline One by One Mascara

LIPS:
- MAC Lipstick - Heartless (again, this is limited edition so any red lipstick will work - but like I said above you don't have to wear red, you can wear any colour lipstick you want, but I find red or pink work best.)

CHEEKS:
- MAC Blush - Bite of an Apple (also limited edition)

Excuse the state of my hair - I don't know what happened to it at the back but my hair was like this in all the pictures I took =[

Look of The Month: January is 'All That Glitters'

Heya guys!

New series time - and it's a series that is easy to stick to (unlike the seven deadly sins series which I STILL haven't finished haha) ... anyway... the whole idea of this series is to share, with you, a look that Ive been wearing pretty much everyday during the month.

Most of these looks probably won't be so great and glam because they'll be more appropriate for day time to go to work/school - since I will probably be wearing these looks to university and work.

Anyway - earlier this month I purchased 'All That Glitters' by MAC - and it was a very welcomed addition to my collection!

List of all the products I used:
EYES:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- MAC Eyeshadow - All That Glitters, Bisque
- Benefit Bad Gal Eyeliner
- Maybelline One by One Lash Mascara

FACE:
- Nivea Daily Essentials Moisturiser
- MAC Blush - Darkly My Dear

LIPS:
- Nivea Milk and Honey Lip Balm
- Urban Decay Pocket Rocket - Eric / E.L.F Luscious Liquid Lipstick - Cherry Tart

YouTube Tutorial: Coppering - Warming up Winter Make-up

Heya guys!

I've been using the naked palette a lot recently so today I decided to use something different before I hit pan on some of the best eye shadows I own! Hopefully, I'll be purchasing the Naked 2 palette within a couple of weeks... I can't wait!

Anyway, this look uses coppering by MAC - a true, firey copper colour! I love this colour and it is most definitely one of my favourite colours by MAC. I've had it in my collection for a while but I only really wear it in summer or autumn - but today I decided different.

I figured, why do I only have to wear copper colours during autumn? Or a bright colour, like coppering during summer? Why not wear something like this on a gloomy winters day? So, that's exactly what I did.

Here's a list of the products I used:

EYES:
- MAC Paintpot - Indianwood
- MAC Eye shadow - Coppering, Handwritten, Girlie and Bisque
- Benefit Big Gal Eyeliner (for waterline ... I think this is one step I forgot to mention in the video)
- MAC Fluidline - Blacktrack
- Maybelline One by One Mascara

FACE:
- MAC Studio Fix Foundation with SPF 15 - NC42
- MAC Blush - Melba (a couple of other options are given in the video)

LIPS:
- MAC Lipglass - Strange Potion (Limited Edition - any other peachy lip colour/gloss will work... or keep your lips nude ;) )

Hope you liked the tutorial,

Take care guys,

Chanou xxx

Youtube Tutorial: New Years Smokey Eye

Hellooooooooo!

So, firstly, let me answer the what, where and why. I got tons of messages (to my surprise) asking WHAT happened to me, WHERE I disappeared to and WHY?!? Basically, the last time I post a video on youtube was on May 1st 2011 and since then I was really busy with work and honestly, I lost motivation to do any sort of youtube videos. BUT I recently found that I missed it so much, so I went onto my channel to check it out and I realised I had loads of messages asking me what had happened to me and I had loads of requests as well.

So I figured, since I missed youtube, and since you guys missed me, I decided this was a good time to come back... and here's my tutorial!

MAC Haul: Venomous Villains - Maleficent

Okay so the last part of this wonderful collection is inspired by the evil Maleficent. She became famous for her role in the 1959 animated Disney movie 'Sleeping Beauty'. She casts a spell on Princess Aurora to 'prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die' on her 16th birthday. She does this because she wasn't invited to the Princess' christening... really? Is that a reason to be so meaaaaan? Lol

Fortunately for Princess Aurora, she doesn't die but only falls asleep until her 'Prince Charming' arrives to kiss her awake. If only we all had a Prince Charming huh? So... technically, the curse is in Princess Aurora's favour and like all good Disney movies, there's a happy ending. Woot woot!

Anyway... I only got two lip products from this part of the collection because the mineralize shadows didn't really stand out to me since I'm not a big fan of mineralize eyeshadows (Mineralize Skin Finishes yeah sure - but the one mineralize trio eyeshadow that I have, I've only used ONCE =[ )

So here's the lipglass in 'Wrong Spell' - AND FYI ... I didn't think I would like this much but I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it! =]

Okay so in pictures this comes off pretty plummy but it's not as plum as it's coming off. It's actually a pretty dark brown with gorgeous shimmer running through it. It is a beautiful colour, really.

Next up is the lipstick in 'Dark Deed'. Amplified finish.

This is coming off it's true colour! It's described as a dark brown plum on the MAC website I think but it's actually, in my opinion anyway, a really dark brown red. It's quite a fair bit darker than dubonnet but similar in the sense that they're both browns with a strong red undertone. Or would it be the other way round? I'm not too sure lol. Either way... it's a gorgeous, gorgeous colour!

MAC Haul: Venomous Villains - Evil Queen

Mirror, Mirror
On The Wall
Who's the fairest,
Of them all?

The famous words of the Evil Queen from the 1937 animated Disney film 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'

I think it'd be a great idea if MAC had to pair up with Disney again, they should have a collection based on the 7 dwarfs haha =P

Anyway... the first item I bought is the eyeshadow in 'Vainglorious' :

I do really like this colour. It's a frost so colour pay off isn't great but it's still a really lovely colour. I filmed a tutorial using it today... and using 'Sweet Joy' from Cruella De Ville as well - perfect for fall and winter. I believe this is a close dupe of Cranberry my MAC =]

Next up is the blush - and this is my FAVOURITE product from the whole collection. It seems to be famous with everyone else as well since it was sold out within hours of the collection going up on the website. I actually had to wait 'til it was out in stores, go to my nearest store for opening time and snatched it straight away.

This is a Matte blush called 'Bite of an Apple' and it's a really dark coral red colour. Great against my skin tone and would look amazing against darker skin tones too. This would look super super pretty on lighter skin tones as well, but use a light hand other wise you're headed for a right disaster ... although it would be VERY 'Snow White -esque'.

The last thing I got from the collection is the lipglass in 'Strange Potion'

This is a pretty sober coral colour. It is very very pretty. I definitely like it. At first I thought it was a little too bright against my skin tone but it actually works really well, so I'm happy about that hehe.

To see what I got from the other parts of the collection click on the links below:

For a better, more in-depth review of ALL the products in this part of the collection check out Pinkiecharm's video!

MAC Haul: Venomous Villains - Cruella De Ville

First up; Cruella De Ville. Personally, I think she's the meanest villain since she skins puppies for their fur! *shock horror* ... Mean, mean lady. She was of course, made famous by the 1961 animated Disney movie 'One Hundred and One Dalmations' and then obviously later on in '102 Dalmations'.

The first thing I purchased from this part of the collection is the eyeshadow in 'Sweet Joy':

This colour is extremely similar, if not the same, to Ricepaper. So if you have ricepaper than you can skip on this, unless of course you like the packaging. I know the picture of Cruella on the actual eyeshadow plastic packagaing isn't exatlty gasp-worthy but I wanted to get it anyway because I like Cruella (not because she skins puppies but because she is in fact the most evil! If that makes any sense?)

Left to right: Sweet Joy, Ricepaper

Can you see a difference?

Next up is the blush: Darkly My Dear

This is a matte blush and I have to say that I have an undying love for matte blushes, so obviously I love this blush! It's such a great colour. It slightly reminds me of the ELF Blush in Coy but Darkly My Dear has WAY better colour pay off and actually shows up against my skin tone! It's sort of a midtone pink/brown with a very SLIGHT plum brown undertone. So yeah, big thumbs up.

Okay, so the third thing on my list from the Cruella De Ville section is the lipglass in 'Devilishy Stylish' (if I was doing this haul on camera I guarantee you I wouldn't have been able to say that haha):

Described on the website as a 'light nude with pink pearl'. This is great to use alone on your lips for  shimmery, glossy, simply sexy lips. The picture of Cruella on the lip gloss tube is probably the best one out of all of her pictures on any of the products in her part of the collection. Why? Because the puppies are so darn cuuuuute! hehe

Last thing I got is the lipstick in 'Heartless' ... now this lipstick is a red lipstick to DIE for!

Speaks for itself right? This has an amplified finish so yes, the colour is similar to Ruby Woo... but I prefer it because the colour pay off is a lot better and it applies way easier!

To see what I got from the other parts of the collection click on the links below:
