YouTube Tutorial: Soft, smokey evening eye

Heya guys!

Another tutorial using Urban Decay eyeshadows! (I'm really into them recently! - specially the naked palette which I'm definitely taking on holiday with me :) )

Anyway - this is a look using my all time favourite UD Eye shadows - YDK. I remember that this was the first single eyeshadow I bought from a really high end brand and I remember saving my money to go and buy it!! haha... that was like 3 years ago and it's still lasting me! I do honestly absolutely love this colour - it's so great for a look like this - one that you can wear during the day/evening, and this colour goes with absolutely any other colour - so if in doubt, always where UD YDK if you can't create a look to match your clothes hehe

Anyway, a list of all the products:
EYES:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- MAC Paint Pot Groundwork
- Urban Decay Eyeshadow - YDK and Naked (from the first Naked Palette)
- MAC Eyeshadow - Handwritten, Contrast, Girlie
- Kajal (but any black eyeliner will be fine to use)
- MAC Fluidline - Blacktrack

FACE:
- MAC Studio Fix Foundation SPF15
- MAC Blush - Darkly My Dear
- MAC Cream Colour Base - Hush

LIPS:
- MAC Lipliner - Burgundy
- Bobbi Brown Treatment Lip Shine SPF 15 - Sunset Bronze #8

Heya guys!

Here's a little look that I threw together... I wore it during the day as a general day look but it's totally wearable for the evening if you don't like wearing anything too dark and smokey on the eyes.

EYES:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- MAC Paint Pot - Bare Study
- Urban Decay Naked Palette - Toasted
- MAC Eyeshadow - Handwritten, Blackberry, Coppering, Bisque
- MAC Fluidline - Blacktrack

FACE:
- MAC Studio Fix SPF15 Foundation
- MAC Cream Colour Base - Hush
- MAC Blush - Breath of Plum

LIPS:
- E.L.F Hypershine gloss - Sugar Plum

YouTube Tutorial: Urban Decay - Ransom

Heya guys!!

Here's another colourful, fun tutorial like my last one. I found this Urban Decay palette lying around in my make up collection and when I opened it and saw all the fun colours I knew I HAD to do a tutorial using them. So... I'm making it my goal to do a tutorial with every single colour in the palette - and my oh my, it shall be done!!

Okay so... here are a list of all the products that I used...

The Urban Decay palette I used is called 'Deluxe Shadow Box'

It's quite an old palette, but I think it's still available to purchase!!

So anyway for my eyes I used:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- Urban Decay Liquid Liner - Ecstasy
- Urban Decay Eyeshadows from the 'Deluxe Shadow Box' in Ransom, Shag and Peace
- MAC 'Call Me Bubbles' Eyeshadow Quad (from Shop/Cook collection) - I used 'Full of Flavour'
- MAC Eyeshadow - Bisque, Digit
- MAC Fluidline - Blacktrack
- Barry M Kohl Pencil #1
- Maybelline One by One lash Mascara

LIPS:
- Barry M Lip Liner - #2 and #6
- L'Oreal Glam Shine - #183

FACE:
- Nivea Moisturiser
- MAC Studio Fix Foundation
- MAC Blush - Fleur Power

That's all you need to know to create this look! If you don't have the palette and you want some cheaper alternatives, you can even use the 120 pro palette to re-create this look or any other eye shadows that are similar to the colours used in this tutorial!!

Look of the Month: February is Sweet Joy/Venomous Villains Tutorial

Heya guys!

I can't believe February is over already! Even with one day extra is felt so short :(

On the plus side, though, we're moving into spring now and spring/summer are my favourite seasons for fashion and makeup coz it means you have so much fun with colour!! And there's a tutorial coming up soon where I use lots of that fabulous colour stuff ;)

For now here is the next instalment of the Look of the Month series - February is Sweet Joy!!

I know this look and last month's look are quite bland, non-colourful and boring but bear in mind that this is the make up that I wear to work and uni everyday so I like to keep things simple and sweet. This look is slightly different however, since you can wear it with any colour lipstick and cheek and you can even change the way you wear your eyeliner and it'll look like a different look everytime ;)

I'm not wearing anything on my face apart from my moisturiser because I don't like wearing foundation to work - I work near ovens and it gets very hot so my foundation just ends up feeling slippery on my skin. You could wear tinted moisturiser though, if you still wanted a little bit of coverage!

EYES:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- MAC Bare Study PaintPot
- MAC eye-shadow: Sweet Joy (this was a limited edition shadow so you could use ricepaper if you wanted to - they're exactly the same and ricepaper is part of MAC's permanent line) and Wedge
- MAC Fluidline - Blacktrack
- Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner - Zero (any black eyeliner will work)
- Maybelline One by One Mascara

LIPS:
- MAC Lipstick - Heartless (again, this is limited edition so any red lipstick will work - but like I said above you don't have to wear red, you can wear any colour lipstick you want, but I find red or pink work best.)

CHEEKS:
- MAC Blush - Bite of an Apple (also limited edition)

Excuse the state of my hair - I don't know what happened to it at the back but my hair was like this in all the pictures I took =[

EYES:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- MAC Painterly PaintPot
- MAC Eyeshadow: Bisque, Espresso
- MAC Blush: Melba
- GOSH Velvet Touch Eyeliner - Truly Brown
(MAC Fluidline in Dipdown for eyebrows)

Happy New Year: New Years Resolutions!

I don't know about you guys but bringing in the new year is always very bittersweet - purely because most of the time I look back on the year and realised how little I achieved, but it's a nice moment because every year I spend it with the family and that's always so lovely. I also look back and think 'did I actually achieve any of my new years resolutions?' and I can safely say that last year, I didn't. I did however get through my second year at university so this year, I didn't feel like crying at the stroke of midnight because for once, I actually felt as if I had achieved something great - which is always a good sign =]

So, I was just wondering what everyone's new years resolutions are? Hoping that they stray away from the typical "I wanna lose weight" or "I wanna make more money".

The hope for 2012, personally, is to graduate from uni with a 2:1 or above - that HAS to be my main priority this year. Apart from that, I'm hoping to go on a couple of holidays this year with friends and family because for me, the last 2 years have been STUDY STUDY STUDY! Hopefully, this year, I'll be able to relax a little bit.

And the second most important resolution this year is to be more regular on YouTube! It was so touching to see how many people actually missed me throughout the time I was gone on YouTube... I would never have thought it at all! But, I promise I'm definitely going to make time for YouTube this year - no excuses!! Hopefully I'm gonna post at least once or twice a week - anything more than that will be a bonus or after my exams are over =]

Anyway... here's hoping you all had a lovely night last night, celebrating in your own special way and thinking about your new years resolutions and/or hopes. If you have to have one resolution make it 'to always stay hopeful and positive' - and that's one thing that I can share with all of you through my experiences of 2011 which are safely in the past!

Love you all and HAPPY NEW YEAR once again! See you all on youtube soon ;)

Youtube Tutorial - Pink Lemon...ade

Some five years ago I remember a friend asking me "Chanel, don't you think yellow and pink really work well together?" and in my head I obviously thought of the brightest yellow and pink you could ever think of, paired them together and replied "eurgh, no way!" But I have clearly proved myself wrong.

I've always admitted that I've disliked pink. And by that I mean, I wouldn't ever choose it to be my favourite colour if I had to. And I don't ever wear pink, and neither do I really own anything that's remotely pink (apart from the necklace that inspired this look). So, even I was shocked when I put this look together.

Of course I love the two colours together but the fact that they work so well with each other and my eye colour makes me give it the real good thumbs up!

So click here to watch the tutorial, and here is a list of all the products I used, and some tips to follow ;)

EYES
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- MAC Paint Pot - Bare Study
- Barry M Super Soft Eye Crayon - #9
- 120 Pro palette (click on picture of the palette below to enlarge it and to see the colours I used)
- MAC Fluidline - Blacktrack
- Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner - Zero
- Maybelline One by One Lash Mascara

FACE
- Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF15 - #5 Honey
- GOSH Pressed Powder - #3 Warm Sands
- MAC Blush - Fleur Power

LIPS
- Nivea Pure and Natural - Milk and Honey
- L'Oreal Glam Shine Fresh - #601 Aqua Lemon Tonic

Random Ramblings: Hard week for the chicken =[

Hey guys!

I have had a hard week. I've been feeling really down recently, and extremely anti-social =[  ... not so great when you know you have to start uploading some more video's and stuff onto youtube but this week has just been awful!

This week was supposed to be my reading week at uni - which basically means that I get a week where I don't have to go in for lectures or anything, but I have to stay at home and read, or y'know, study. But obviously, I don't think any student really gets much done during reading week because there will always be a day where you have to go into the lab and do experiments and crap (yer, experiments sound cool right? Not when you do pretty much the same one all the damn time =[ ) ... and then I'm guessing that pretty much every student has some type of part time job which would inevitably take up some time during the week.

So, with all that to bare in mind, I had work on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and my work pretty much takes up the whole day because it takes me 2 hours to go there and 2 hours to come back home - with a 7 hour shift in between. I also had to go into uni for (yep, you guessed it...) LABS on Tuesday between working. Because of all that, my so called reading 'week' has whittled down to reading '2 days' ... oh and plus the weekend but I fully intend to go out on Saturday - AT THE VERY LEAST.

Thursday and Friday (my two ACTUAL reading days) have consisted of studying and writing my essay which is due in, in just over a week and also studying for an exam I have in also, just over a week - not looking forward to the exam to be honest, but hey ho, what can ya do?

I also spent Thursday night curled up alone in my room crying to the sound of Taylor Swift's new album - Speak Now (obviously there were other reasons too lol). Truly her best album yet, by far - and hasn't failed to make me cry every single time I listen to it. Her lyrics are so beautifully truthful and straight to the point, yet understanding at the same time, and that's what I really love about Taylor Swift. Her writing.

It's Friday night now, and I still feel really quite down and lonely to be honest. And I know that you guys probably don't want to read any of this, or possibly don't even care. I don't blame you really, but in that case, you should have stopped reading a long time ago =P

Anyway, I shall go drown my sorrows else where now and hopefully the weekend will see a better, happier, more 'Chanel' version of me! =] Fingers crossed.

Thanks for reading,

Chanel

P.S. This miserable weather in London really doesn't make it any better =[

Miscellaneous: Long week =[

First things first, I have to say a BIG congrats to Renthead2400 for winning my first ever contest! hehe

Now let's move on to less important ramblings...

I am so thankful to say that this week is OVER! It's gone fast but none-the-less it's been a long, hard week.

I can't even begin to tell you what I did on Tuesday because I simply cannot remember anything about that day - it was the only fast day of the week.

I only realised how slow time has been going when I checked my diary today and realised I've only been back at uni for THREE weeks. It feels like it's been sooooooooooooooooo much longer - and I've got an even longer week next week because I have a 3 hour lecture everyday, plus two 7 hour shifts at work. I can safely say I'm gonna be knackered. The good thing is that while I'm busy with uni and work, the week tends to move a little bit faster. Time slows down, don't get me wrong but when you get to Friday you're like - where the hell did Monday go?!? Lol

It's getting a lot colder in London too, which is something I'm actually quite apathetic about at the moment. I normally like the cold weather because I like to wrap up warm and snuggle into a chunky knit scarf that just feels like a blanket around your neck - but it's not THAT cold enough yet. It's just cold enough to make sure you wear a jumper/jacket. So yes, I want it to get colder because this weather is stupid and I wanna wear my chunky scarves!! Lol

I also started a diet this week, because I have decided it is time for me to lose weight. =]
I started on Monday and I've stuck to it so far. I'm not normally one to eat looooooads of chocolates and crisps or anything but when you know you have to cut them out completely, you start to walk past every shop that sells them thinking 'One won't do any harm - NO NO NO musn't go in' lol... and so far my will power has served me well and I haven't touched a single chocolate bar or packet of crisps this week. Let's just hope I can keep this up. Teehee.

Last but not least, because this week has been so busy for me I haven't even got round to editing any of the videos that I filmed over the weekend. One of them being the long awaited and most requested: 'How do I do my eyebrows' video. I WILL edit them this weekend though, and I will also film more and edit THEM too - so I may just give you guys a real good dose of tutorials this weekend - maybe a Q&A video 'cause I have sooo many bloody questions to answer from my contest. I also have to start doing Halloween tutorials since they've been requested - it's late, I know. But better late than never, huh?

So, to sum up this random ramble about my week:
1. It's been a long week =[ - but next week will be even longer ='[
2. It's got cold =], but I want it to be colder =D
3. I'm on a diet ... that I'm actually sticking to! Lol =D
4. Keep a look out for a bunch of videos from me this weekend hehe =D

I'm actually surprised that I haven't managed to rant on about something awful in these miscellaneous random rambles lol... should I call them 'Random Rambles' from now on? Lol... It seems like a much more fun name for these kind of things! xD

Anyway... Have a great weekend and I shall hopefully have those videos up on my youtube channel this weekend too! =]

Lots of Love,

Chanel
xxx

P.S. I also finished reading my book this week and if none of you have seen the movie 'My Sister's Keeper' my dad recommends it. I haven't seen the movie but that's the book I finished this week and it's real good. There's a real good twist at the end. (My dad told me this because he watched the movie so obviously my nose was in the book every chance I got to read it - and it did actually turn out to be a good twist hehe)

Au revoir my lovelies!

MAC Haul: Venomous Villains - Maleficent

Okay so the last part of this wonderful collection is inspired by the evil Maleficent. She became famous for her role in the 1959 animated Disney movie 'Sleeping Beauty'. She casts a spell on Princess Aurora to 'prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die' on her 16th birthday. She does this because she wasn't invited to the Princess' christening... really? Is that a reason to be so meaaaaan? Lol

Fortunately for Princess Aurora, she doesn't die but only falls asleep until her 'Prince Charming' arrives to kiss her awake. If only we all had a Prince Charming huh? So... technically, the curse is in Princess Aurora's favour and like all good Disney movies, there's a happy ending. Woot woot!

Anyway... I only got two lip products from this part of the collection because the mineralize shadows didn't really stand out to me since I'm not a big fan of mineralize eyeshadows (Mineralize Skin Finishes yeah sure - but the one mineralize trio eyeshadow that I have, I've only used ONCE =[ )

So here's the lipglass in 'Wrong Spell' - AND FYI ... I didn't think I would like this much but I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it! =]

Okay so in pictures this comes off pretty plummy but it's not as plum as it's coming off. It's actually a pretty dark brown with gorgeous shimmer running through it. It is a beautiful colour, really.

Next up is the lipstick in 'Dark Deed'. Amplified finish.

This is coming off it's true colour! It's described as a dark brown plum on the MAC website I think but it's actually, in my opinion anyway, a really dark brown red. It's quite a fair bit darker than dubonnet but similar in the sense that they're both browns with a strong red undertone. Or would it be the other way round? I'm not too sure lol. Either way... it's a gorgeous, gorgeous colour!

To see what I got from the other parts of the collection click on the links below:

For a better, more in-depth review on ALL the products in this part of the collection check out Pinkiecharm's video!

MAC Haul: Venomous Villains - Evil Queen

Mirror, Mirror
On The Wall
Who's the fairest,
Of them all?

The famous words of the Evil Queen from the 1937 animated Disney film 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'

I think it'd be a great idea if MAC had to pair up with Disney again, they should have a collection based on the 7 dwarfs haha =P

Anyway... the first item I bought is the eyeshadow in 'Vainglorious' :

I do really like this colour. It's a frost so colour pay off isn't great but it's still a really lovely colour. I filmed a tutorial using it today... and using 'Sweet Joy' from Cruella De Ville as well - perfect for fall and winter. I believe this is a close dupe of Cranberry my MAC =]

Next up is the blush - and this is my FAVOURITE product from the whole collection. It seems to be famous with everyone else as well since it was sold out within hours of the collection going up on the website. I actually had to wait 'til it was out in stores, go to my nearest store for opening time and snatched it straight away.

This is a Matte blush called 'Bite of an Apple' and it's a really dark coral red colour. Great against my skin tone and would look amazing against darker skin tones too. This would look super super pretty on lighter skin tones as well, but use a light hand other wise you're headed for a right disaster ... although it would be VERY 'Snow White -esque'.

The last thing I got from the collection is the lipglass in 'Strange Potion'

This is a pretty sober coral colour. It is very very pretty. I definitely like it. At first I thought it was a little too bright against my skin tone but it actually works really well, so I'm happy about that hehe.

To see what I got from the other parts of the collection click on the links below:

For a better, more in-depth review of ALL the products in this part of the collection check out Pinkiecharm's video!

Miscellaneous: Update - on everything... and my babies! =]

Hey guys!

I know, I know. Where have I been right? The last couple of weeks have been crazy, more so this last week because it's been the last week of my Naked Palette contest AND it was an even week at uni, meaning I had a lecture every single day. On top of that I had work - so by the time I got home it was around 10pm and I was worn out. I did however, force myself to go through the contest entry comments - and on the second last day I received over A THOUSAND comments - it took me AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGES to go through them all - note down all the questions and requests, but I got there eventually.

So yes, that is my excuse for not being around for the last two weeks. That and the weather here in London has been horrid, and when it rains, I feel down and not really in the best mood to do any videos. Plus, because it's so gloomy, the lighting isn't great to do tutorials when the only time I can do them is in the morning when I'm getting ready to go to uni ... and that's at like 7:30am!! And that's just way to early for me to talk about how I put on my make up. But I swear, on my odd weeks (I know odd weeks and even weeks means nothing to you guys reading this, just know that my even weeks are the busiest weeks for me =[ ) I will do as many videos as I possibly can.

Moving on... I would like you guys to meet my babies. And no, I'm twenty years old - too young to have baby let alone babies! Lol ... They're not actual human babies, they are these:

Me To You bears - These are all my babies! :P hehe

And notice how I even have two of the same one haha :P ... I got them two for Christmas from two of my friends lol. The others I got from other various loved peoples :P ... Some of whom I don't even speak to any more but these gorgeous creatures are too precious to give up. They're way more precious when they're given to you by someone you love - so I've never bought my own. I just make it known to people that I love them =D ... haha :P

I really want some of the blue nosed friends though... THOSE I might have to buy for myself haha

These are my bigger babies. The ones who don't rely on cardboard to hold 'em up so they can't sit on my window sill and on other various surfaces in my bedroom. Instead, they share my bed with me! =D And I love them just as much hehe ... And I know that Jersey Bear (the brown one) isn't a Me to You bear but it's still one of my babies hehe

Yes, I may be sad... but there are four things in my life that I will never let anyone or anything hurt:
My Me To You Bears
My Makeup!
My phone...

...And obviously, the people I love the most, which personally is my number one priority! ...

... So again, yes I'm sad, but at least I have a heart =P

Have a great weekend guys and keep a look out for my contest winner video... it should be up within the next few days coz remember, if random.org gives me a huge number since I have received over SIX THOUSAND COMMENTS, I have to count each and every comment 'til I get to that one!! Lol... But I will do my best to get it up as soon as possible so please bare with me! =D
