YouTube Tutorial - The Blooz

Hey guys

I've had loads of requests over the past few years since I've been on youtube, to do a tutorial using blue eyeshadow. I've done one or two using navy but never anything much like this look.

Here are some tips when attempting to pull of blue eyeshadow:
- Find the right shade that suits you. If you're confident with wearing colour then you could probably wear any blue and look great, but for those who aren't so confident with bright, bold colours wear the paler shades. Pale blue is a beautiful shade of blue for any skintone. For those who like dark eyes, use the navy blues.
- Always pair with an earth-toned eyeshadow. Taupes, greys and blacks are perfect with blue. I did use navy blue in this look to add a little bit of depth to the outer-v. Never match a light blue with a conflicting shade of blue though.
- Keep your cheeks and lips nude and natural as you possibly can. This applies to most vibrant eye make up - if you want to keep the attention to the eyes don't pair them with a bright, bold lipstick. It WILL look silly.

So with those tips in hand, here's a look for you to try:

YouTube Tutorial: Soft, smokey evening eye

Heya guys!

Another tutorial using Urban Decay eyeshadows! (I'm really into them recently! - specially the naked palette which I'm definitely taking on holiday with me :) )

Anyway - this is a look using my all time favourite UD Eye shadows - YDK. I remember that this was the first single eyeshadow I bought from a really high end brand and I remember saving my money to go and buy it!! haha... that was like 3 years ago and it's still lasting me! I do honestly absolutely love this colour - it's so great for a look like this - one that you can wear during the day/evening, and this colour goes with absolutely any other colour - so if in doubt, always where UD YDK if you can't create a look to match your clothes hehe

Anyway, a list of all the products:
EYES:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- MAC Paint Pot Groundwork
- Urban Decay Eyeshadow - YDK and Naked (from the first Naked Palette)
- MAC Eyeshadow - Handwritten, Contrast, Girlie
- Kajal (but any black eyeliner will be fine to use)
- MAC Fluidline - Blacktrack

FACE:
- MAC Studio Fix Foundation SPF15
- MAC Blush - Darkly My Dear
- MAC Cream Colour Base - Hush

LIPS:
- MAC Lipliner - Burgundy

Avoid exam stress spots with WATER!

Hey guys!

So, of course, exams are looming. My first exam is on the 3rd of May - just 4 days away! Exams are always horrible, they make you stressed and the stress makes you jumpy and sometimes even up-tight. Exam stress also gives a number of people spots - but, they are avoidable! And I'm going to tell you how in this blog post!

I can't remember the last time I had a spot on my face - sure I always get a dry patch or two but that's because I naturally have really bad skin and living in London, dry skin is made worse by the horrible cold, windy weather which graces us for 9/12 months!

Stress is horrible and everyone suffers from stress. But stress has this effect on the body where exposure to stressful situations, heightens your body's stress response which in turn, increases the risk of getting spots (among so many serious health problems that stress can cause). So, I hardly ever get spots - "how is that possible?" I hear you ask!

It won't come as a surprise to any of you to hear that of course I wear make-up - foundation being one of the major causes of 'spot outbreaks' - of course mainly in women. This is because, foundation and all the chemicals in the make up we use, unsurprisingly, has a bad effect on our skin. It's therefore questionable as to why we endeavour to wear the make-up, but we're women and we like to look nice - it's therefore our responsibility to make sure we steer clear of spots in any way we can!

And this applies to men too - of course, most men don't wear make up, but they do have hormones!! Hormones play a huge role in getting spots, and so does oily skin!

I do, however, want to make it clear that I do not have any medical training so if you think you have a major case of outbreaks, or think you may have acne, my clear advice to you is to go and see your GP!

So, how does water stop you from getting spots?

1. DRINK WATER!! - I know every one says this but it is so true. I, hand on my heart, have only drunk a fizzy drink to taste them, only to realise I didn't like them. Personally, they taste fowl and the gassy feeling on my tongue is vile - but if you do like fizzy drinks, remember to drink them in moderation and DON'T drink them to hydrate your body. If you feel dehydrated the best thing to drink is water - it hydrates all parts off the body without the sugar and calories!!
2. Wash your face with WATER! (without soap or facial cleansers)-  Not only does drinking water keep you squeaky clean on the inside, washing your face with water prevents exposing your skin to all the nasty chemicals they put in soap and face cleansers etc. Washing your face with warm water is best. If you have dry skin, wash with warm water and use a face-towel to damp-dry your skin and then lock in the moisture with a day/night moisturiser. For oily skin, use the face-towel also but make sure you dry your skin completely and either use a small amount of moisturiser suitable for oily-skin or don't use one if you feel you're skin is too oily (this is a good idea particular for night time as this will allow your skin to breath without having make-up/moisturiser clogging your pores).

The final little piece of advice I can give you is to use face masks regularly. You can buy these or buy the ingredients and make them yourself at home. A good one to treat spots AND acne is the aspirin and honey face mask. Just crush two aspirin tables in a table-spoon of honey, smear on your face, sit back and relax - and try not to catch the honey dripping off your nose :P

There are many other things that contribute to spots, but taking on board some of this advice may help your skin look clearer, more youthful and less "stressed".

Good luck to anyone who has exam this month or soon!

Remember "Study hard now, party harder later" =D

Love

x

YouTube Tutorial: Urban Decay - Ransom

Heya guys!!

Here's another colourful, fun tutorial like my last one. I found this Urban Decay palette lying around in my make up collection and when I opened it and saw all the fun colours I knew I HAD to do a tutorial using them. So... I'm making it my goal to do a tutorial with every single colour in the palette - and my oh my, it shall be done!!

Okay so... here are a list of all the products that I used...

The Urban Decay palette I used is called 'Deluxe Shadow Box'

It's quite an old palette, but I think it's still available to purchase!!

So anyway for my eyes I used:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- Urban Decay Liquid Liner - Ecstasy
- Urban Decay Eyeshadows from the 'Deluxe Shadow Box' in Ransom, Shag and Peace

- MAC Fluidline - Blacktrack

LIPS:
- Barry M Lip Liner - #2 and #6
- L'Oreal Glam Shine - #183

FACE:

That's all you need to know to create this look! If you don't have the palette and you want some cheaper alternatives, you can even use the 120 pro palette to re-create this look or any other eye shadows that are similar to the colours used in this tutorial!!

Look of the Month: February is Sweet Joy/Venomous Villains Tutorial

Heya guys!

I can't believe February is over already! Even with one day extra is felt so short :(

On the plus side, though, we're moving into spring now and spring/summer are my favourite seasons for fashion and makeup coz it means you have so much fun with colour!! And there's a tutorial coming up soon where I use lots of that fabulous colour stuff ;)

For now here is the next instalment of the Look of the Month series - February is Sweet Joy!!

I know this look and last month's look are quite bland, non-colourful and boring but bear in mind that this is the make up that I wear to work and uni everyday so I like to keep things simple and sweet. This look is slightly different however, since you can wear it with any colour lipstick and cheek and you can even change the way you wear your eyeliner and it'll look like a different look everytime ;)

I'm not wearing anything on my face apart from my moisturiser because I don't like wearing foundation to work - I work near ovens and it gets very hot so my foundation just ends up feeling slippery on my skin. You could wear tinted moisturiser though, if you still wanted a little bit of coverage!

EYES:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- MAC Bare Study PaintPot
- MAC eye-shadow: Sweet Joy (this was a limited edition shadow so you could use ricepaper if you wanted to - they're exactly the same and ricepaper is part of MAC's permanent line) and Wedge
- MAC Fluidline - Blacktrack
- Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner - Zero (any black eyeliner will work)
- Maybelline One by One Mascara

LIPS:
- MAC Lipstick - Heartless (again, this is limited edition so any red lipstick will work - but like I said above you don't have to wear red, you can wear any colour lipstick you want, but I find red or pink work best.)

CHEEKS:
- MAC Blush - Bite of an Apple (also limited edition)

Excuse the state of my hair - I don't know what happened to it at the back but my hair was like this in all the pictures I took =[

YouTube Tutorial: Romantic Evening Look for Valentines Day

Howdy!

Here's the second instalment of the valentines day looks. This one, in comparison to my first, has more shimmer and is more for evening time (even though I wore it during the day :P) but is still quite natural. This look was actually inspired by a picture of Katy Perry that I saw in a magazine and I thought it was perfect for Valentine's Day because of all the pink hehe

Products I used:

EYES:
- MAC Groundwork Paint Pot
- MAC Eyeshadow: Expensive Pink, Handwritten, Tissueweight
- MAC Fluidline - Blacktrack
(MAC FluidLine in dipdown for eyebrows)

LIPS:
- Nivea Honey and Milk Lip Balm
- Barry M Lip Pencil #2
- Barry M Lip Paint #152

FACE:
- MAC Studio Fix Foundation - NC42
- MAC Blush - Fleur Power

YouTube Tutorial: Natural Valentines Day Look

BUT, I'm finished now so here are a list of all the products I used to create the look and some pictures of the look as well:

EYES:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- MAC Painterly PaintPot

- MAC Blush: Melba
- GOSH Velvet Touch Eyeliner - Truly Brown

Look of The Month: January is 'All That Glitters'

Heya guys!

New series time - and it's a series that is easy to stick to (unlike the seven deadly sins series which I STILL haven't finished haha) ... anyway... the whole idea of this series is to share, with you, a look that Ive been wearing pretty much everyday during the month.

Most of these looks probably won't be so great and glam because they'll be more appropriate for day time to go to work/school - since I will probably be wearing these looks to university and work.

Anyway - earlier this month I purchased 'All That Glitters' by MAC - and it was a very welcomed addition to my collection!

List of all the products I used:
EYES:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- MAC Eyeshadow - All That Glitters, Bisque
- Benefit Bad Gal Eyeliner
- Maybelline One by One Lash Mascara

FACE:
- Nivea Daily Essentials Moisturiser
- MAC Blush - Darkly My Dear

LIPS:
- Nivea Milk and Honey Lip Balm
- Urban Decay Pocket Rocket - Eric / E.L.F Luscious Liquid Lipstick - Cherry Tart

YouTube Tutorial: Coppering - Warming up Winter Make-up

Heya guys!

I've been using the naked palette a lot recently so today I decided to use something different before I hit pan on some of the best eye shadows I own! Hopefully, I'll be purchasing the Naked 2 palette within a couple of weeks... I can't wait!

Anyway, this look uses coppering by MAC - a true, firey copper colour! I love this colour and it is most definitely one of my favourite colours by MAC. I've had it in my collection for a while but I only really wear it in summer or autumn - but today I decided different.

I figured, why do I only have to wear copper colours during autumn? Or a bright colour, like coppering during summer? Why not wear something like this on a gloomy winters day? So, that's exactly what I did.

Here's a list of the products I used:

EYES:
- MAC Paintpot - Indianwood
- MAC Eye shadow - Coppering, Handwritten, Girlie and Bisque
- Benefit Big Gal Eyeliner (for waterline ... I think this is one step I forgot to mention in the video)
- MAC Fluidline - Blacktrack
- Maybelline One by One Mascara

FACE:
- MAC Studio Fix Foundation with SPF 15 - NC42
- MAC Blush - Melba (a couple of other options are given in the video)

LIPS:
- MAC Lipglass - Strange Potion (Limited Edition - any other peachy lip colour/gloss will work... or keep your lips nude ;) )

Hope you liked the tutorial,

Take care guys,

Chanou xxx

YouTube Skincare Series: Banish Dry Skin During Winter!

Greetings!

I hope you are all having a lovely day/evening. As I mentioned in the video, the last couple of weeks in London have been horrible - horrible weather with wind and rain. Winds so strong that my neighbours trampoline ended up in our back garden. Wind also makes my skin incredibly dry, very quickly... so I've been wrecking my brain trying to think of something that I can do to keep my skin moisturised during these awful wintry days!

So, you can go watch the video if you wanna find out what I use and how I use them but here's a list of the products mentioned in the video, and where they can be purchased (prices aren't included as they vary):
1. Eau Roma Water Toner - Lush Cosmetics
2. Nivea Visage Daily Essentials Regenerating Night Cream - Superdrug/Boots
3. Nivea Visage Daily Essentials Day Cream with SPF 15 for Dry and Sensitive Skin - Superdrug/Boots
4. Oatifix face mask - Lush Cosmetics
5. Bio-Oil - Superdrug/Boots (you could also probably find this in Tesco's or Sainsbury's etc.)
                            - also check out the Bio-oil website where you can find out more information about the product!

Something that I forgot to mention in the video is to make sure you don't use too much face powder to set your foundation during the winter months. Of course, it's a must to use a setting powder, but only put it on the areas where you find you sweat a lot - sweat is the bodies natural way to moisturise it's skin so the powder won't dry out your skin if you put it where you sweat.

If you put it in places even where you don't sweat you may find your foundation will look cakey as the day goes on due to your skin drying out! - So keep that in mind!

Other than that, have a wonderful week and here's hoping the you found the video helpful/useful!

Love and hugs,

Chanou

Some things I'm really loving at the moment!

Heya Guys,

In my Get To Know Me Video I was asked to name a few things that I'm really loving at the moment, but because I didn't want to make the video too long (it ended up being long with out my list of goodies) I decided to post a blog and show you some of the stuff that I absolutely loooooooove at the moment - not all of them being make up! This way I can show you pictures, and it doesn't have a time/length limit!

Enjoy ;)

These are two of my favourite eyeshadows at the moment. The top one (Bisque) and the bottom one (Blackberry) - both by MAC and they're both matte. I'm very into matte eyeshadows at the moment so these fit right in. I love bisque mainly for highlight or I use these both together for a really simple day look with bisque all over the lid and blackberry in the crease ... maybe with a little bit of wedge or espresso (also both eyeshadows by mac) to define the crease a little bit more!
<3 <3 <3 <3 <3

So, anyone who knows me, knows I love orange - and since last year I have loved big bags coz they're just so handy to have and I looooove them. So when I saw this in New Look I pretty much HAD to invest! Such an amazing bag. I love it. You can wear it two ways - across your body or just on your shoulder - because it has the longer strap and the shorter handles. I love it! I use it for uni and it's just really amazing!

This is a very new found love. My mama and papa got this acer netbook for me for Christmas and I'm in love with it. Not because it's a Christmas presents and you have to pretend to like/love Christmas presents but because I genuinely love it. My parents knew that I had wanted one for ages and they both tricked me into thinking I wasn't gonna get it for Christmas because they claimed they couldn't afford it. And I know it was a stretch for their purse strings so I'm even more thankful <3

I bought this ring last summer, like most of my junk jewellery, I bought this from New Look. I love the design! I fell in love with it pretty much as soon as I set my eyes on it! It's such a beautiful ring. I don't wear it much in the winter for a few reasons: mainly because the points hurt my cold hands but also because you can't wear gloves over this huge, but amazingly beautiful ring! =]

Love them? Aren't they sexy? I bought these on sale from Linzi - orignally £30 (i think... could be more) but I paid only £20 and I thought that was a bargain. Plus, I had wanted a pair of ankle boots with a wedge heel for ages so these finally made into my footwear collection ;)

Last but not least, my best friend bought these for me for my 21st birthday. Again, anyone who knows me will know that I LOOOOOOVE anything me to you - but I'm not a big fan of slippers. These however, aside from being 'Me To You', are so soft and comfortable and I love them. I have to admit, I do still wear my socks around the house but these are the first pair of slippers that I've actually stuck to wearing on a day to day basis!

Hope you guys enjoyed me sharing some of my current loves at the moment!

Happy New Year: New Years Resolutions!

I don't know about you guys but bringing in the new year is always very bittersweet - purely because most of the time I look back on the year and realised how little I achieved, but it's a nice moment because every year I spend it with the family and that's always so lovely. I also look back and think 'did I actually achieve any of my new years resolutions?' and I can safely say that last year, I didn't. I did however get through my second year at university so this year, I didn't feel like crying at the stroke of midnight because for once, I actually felt as if I had achieved something great - which is always a good sign =]

So, I was just wondering what everyone's new years resolutions are? Hoping that they stray away from the typical "I wanna lose weight" or "I wanna make more money".

The hope for 2012, personally, is to graduate from uni with a 2:1 or above - that HAS to be my main priority this year. Apart from that, I'm hoping to go on a couple of holidays this year with friends and family because for me, the last 2 years have been STUDY STUDY STUDY! Hopefully, this year, I'll be able to relax a little bit.

And the second most important resolution this year is to be more regular on YouTube! It was so touching to see how many people actually missed me throughout the time I was gone on YouTube... I would never have thought it at all! But, I promise I'm definitely going to make time for YouTube this year - no excuses!! Hopefully I'm gonna post at least once or twice a week - anything more than that will be a bonus or after my exams are over =]

Anyway... here's hoping you all had a lovely night last night, celebrating in your own special way and thinking about your new years resolutions and/or hopes. If you have to have one resolution make it 'to always stay hopeful and positive' - and that's one thing that I can share with all of you through my experiences of 2011 which are safely in the past!

Love you all and HAPPY NEW YEAR once again! See you all on youtube soon ;)
